VerticalResponse Wins Platinum, Gold in 2012 MarCom Awards

“Next Teen Tycoon” contest and corporate website recognized for marketing communications excellence

SAN FRANCISCO – November 27, 2012 – VerticalResponse, a leading provider of self-service marketing solutions for small businesses and non-profits including email marketing, social media marketing and event marketing,earned two nods from the 2012 MarCom Awards, which recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The company’s “Next Teen Tycoon” video contest won the top platinum prize in the communications/public relations category, while its corporate website earned a gold trophy in the website/business-to-business category.

There were more than 6,000 entries from throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries in the 2012 competition.

MarCom entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, public relations firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers. Winners range in size from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies. National public relations organizations, local ad clubs and local business communicator chapters also are among the entrants.

The platinum award-winning “Next Teen Tycoon” teen entrepreneurship contest was launched earlier this year to support business-minded teens and help advance youth entrepreneurship across the United States. VerticalResponse created a microsite, a stop-motion “sizzle” video and other creative assets to promote the contest. It also secured the support of well-known organizations and experts in business and teen entrepreneurship, including the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship and TEDxTeen, as partners and judges. The contest attracted nearly 40 video entries, created measurable buzz on social media and secured national press coverage in media outlets such as the Huffington Post, FOX Business, CNBC, Inc. and more.

The gold award-winning VerticalResponse website targets small businesses and non-profit organizations looking to enhance their marketing efforts via self-service email marketing, social media, event marketing, online surveys and/or direct mail postcards. The site includes easy-to-understand, upfront pricing information; explanations of products' core features and benefits in plain, friendly language; a robust “Resources” section packed with free guides, articles, webinars and case studies; an award-winning marketing blog; and more. The MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and sets standards for excellence.

Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

Winners were selected from over 200 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts: marketing, publications, marketing/promotion, public service/pro bono, creativity and electronic/interactive.
