Our Training & Education Manager, Jill recently blogged about Pinterest and boy, did we get a response. In fact, it was our most popular blog post in the first quarter so we’re back to share a few Pinterest tools that’ll have you pinning like a pro.

Before we get started, though, for those of you scratching your heads wondering what Pinterest is anyways, we’ll clarify that it’s not just a place for moms, brides and crafters to “pin” ideas on virtual boards. In fact, it’s the 3rd most popular social network in the U.S so you might want to get “on board” and check it out.

Our friends at Pinerly came up with these helpful tips for marketers and businesses on how to post to Pinterest for better results. A few highlights:

  1. Pin late at night, past 8 pm.
  2. Writ a detailed description for each pin with a call-to-action, (ie. “Learn how to make this”).
  3. Post/pin to popular boards (if they’re open to everyone) with high subscriber numbers.

They’ve also got this compelling infographic that illustrates it (and yes, they’re aware they misspelled “recipe”):

So, how to get pinning? One of the trickier things to do when posting to Pinterest is to capture your content into picture perfect pinning form. Here are a few easy-to-use Pinterest tools that allow you capture an entire computer screen in one shot, making your content, blog posts, website, etc. just a pin away: url2pin.it – Drop in a URL and voila, a full-screen capture. The tool also color maps your screenshot and adds fun color blocks that appear at the bottom of each picture. Pin your image directly from the site. They also have a Google Chrome extension with the same friendly features, called Screen 2 PinPin a Quote – Highlight or copy/paste any text and pin it directly to your account. Pinstamatic – Allows you to add website snapshots, quotes, calendar dates, locations, or create “sticky notes” and suggest Twitter profiles to your Pinterest profile.

Lastly, Pinterest offers a selection of their own goodies like a Pin It button for your website and blog. Get them now.

Take these pinning tools for a whirl and watch your boards and engagement come to life.

Are you taking advantage of the 3rd most popular social network for your biz?
