Denise Mahaffey, founder of Malama Marketing, had the pleasure of living in Hawaii before she started her company. Her logo reflects the time she spent there and is a depiction of the Hawaiian Ulu, which is the symbol for abundance. And the word 'malama' translates to 'to care for'. She established Malama Marketing using these symbols as her inspiration. "When growth is achieved, healthy businesses can then support their community through outreach initiatives," said Mahaffey.
Mahaffey's previous experience in marketing taught her the importance of staying in front of an audience and the power of email marketing to do so. Mahaffey knew she needed the right tools to communicate to a variety of audiences, so she could support the company goal of providing an effective and affordable full service marketing solution.
Mahaffey became aware of VerticalResponse when she received an email from a respected contact in the marketing industry. She liked the professional look of the email and the capabilities it contained. When she got to the bottom of the email she noticed it was 'Powered by VerticalResponse' and instantly wanted to learn more.
Mahaffey began using VerticalResponse soon after founding Malama Marketing and gained about 25 regular clients. "Whether we’re sending out a newsletter or a press release, VerticalResponse is the best solution for any outbound communication for our clients," said Mahaffey.
After seeing how effective email marketing was for many of her clients, Mahaffey tried VerticalResponse's online survey tool. Malama Marketing uses surveys to follow up with attendees of their client's webinars and tradeshows. They have found that the amount of information participants provide through online surveys after an event is invaluable.
Malama Marketing has learned to use email marketing as both a way of staying in front of customers and as a research tool. After this information has been collected, Malama Marketing uses it to segment targeted campaigns and offers.
