How do I...

Copy and Paste from Microsoft Word

Because HTML is written in plain text, web and email browsers can have a hard time translating text that was written in Microsoft Word. As a result, pasting text directly from Word into an HTML based document (like an email) can result in weird characters appearing throughout your message. This is a common problem, and I've seen it happen on websites, the CNN news ticker, and in emails.

To help you avoid this problem, we've included a Paste from Word tool in the Canvas editor. To use this tool, you:

  1. Choose where in the email you'd like to paste your text.
  2. Click on the Word Clipboard Icon (the one that has the W imposed on it). This is in the top row of icons in the Designer's Toolbar.
  3. Paste your Word generated text into the pop-up dialog box.
  4. Click Insert. This will strip out all of Microsoft's proprietary formatting and place the now standard text directly into your message.
