Did you know that Pinterest consists of more than just pretty pictures? In fact, according to the company, more than 5 million news articles are pinned on Pinterest every day. Due to a wealth of articles posted on the image-centric social site, the company has announced that they’re rolling out a new look specifically for “article pins.”
As stated on Pinterest’s blog, “Articles will now have more information — including the headline, author, story description and link — right on the pin. So, when you find articles about things you’re passionate about, such as science, travel, parenting or health, they’re easier to save and organize on Pinterest.”
The new article pins will promote a longer “shelf life” of online content allowing readers to identify articles immediately, read headlines more clearly (similarly to an online newspaper or magazine) and pin articles now and read later – A major plus for any content marketing strategy!
Several people and/or companies have already created reading boards, such as Arianna Huffington, Dr. Oz, CBS travel editor, Peter Greenberg, and more. An article on Marketing Land states that for now, the new article pins are only available to a small group of publishers that includes The Guardian, The New York Times, Rolling Stone and Huffington Post.
According to Pinterest, you’ll start seeing the new look for article pins on the web now, and on mobile soon.
