VerticalResponse Blog

TwitterBy now you’ve probably heard that Twitter is a powerful business tool. We think that even  though you constantly hear about using Twitter for your business, you may not hear enough about why it is a great business tool.

If you haven’t joined Twitter, or if you have a Twitter account and don’t know what to do with it, here are our top ten “tweetable” reasons why you should give it a try:

  1. It’s free.
  2. It can help grow your email marketing list when you post email-only offers.
  3. It will expand the life and reach of your email campaigns (use the VR Social Sharing Feature.)
  4. You can find and make connections by following people and asking them to follow you.
  5. You can stay up-to-date on industry trends by following trendsetters.
  6. You can monitor what your customers are saying about you so you can make necessary tweaks to your business.
  7. You can host a Twitter Chat to engage with and acquire more followers.
  8. You can handle customer support related issues (check out for inspiration.)
  9. You can find your advocates and reward them!
  10. You can promote your business to new and existing customers.

I have recently started a new business and have found it a great way of getting my brand out there. I have also picked up some design work through Twitter which was unexpected. I agree it keeps me up to date with what’s going on in the world and it’s fun too.

    Love your list!
After taking a poll of our ecommerce clients, we found that people prefer Facebook to Twitter. BUT, Twitter does have its good qualities. Both are great and necessary for any social media marketing campaign.
Take a look at these stats that show what a typical Facebook and Twitter user are like.

I’ve been using twitter and have earned a few new fans there. Some followed us to twitter, and by retweeting our posts, they brought new people to us and our site. Slow process, and if not used right can be annoying. One effective tweet is better than 20 useless tweets.

This is a great reminder for me to update my Twitter more often.
I set up an account and posted to it frequently for the first few days…but that was about it! I need to get back into it to keep my followers growing!

    Hi Jessy,
My name is Poppy and I am the Social Media Manager here at VerticalResponse. Getting followers can be a challenge, but just like building your email list, it takes time and is worth the effort. Have you tried sending out an email marketing campaign promoting your Twitter account?

  • Scubawendy

Twitter has definitely worked for me. It has brought me several new clients.

  • Jessy
