Social Media Campaign Idea: Bacon!!
Back in early September, Oscar Meyer sent comedian Josh Stankey on the social media road with 3000 lbs. of bacon to see if he could barter his way across the country; brilliant! Welcome to the Great American Bacon Barter!
Josh needed to trade in bacon for places to sleep, food to eat (as if bacon isn’t enough), things to buy, and services to be had. What did Oscar Meyer do that was so freakin’ cool?
- They kept you up-to-date more than daily on every place Josh actually touched down on Facebook and Twitter. They got over 740K likes on Facebook alone!
- They used photos (Instagram) of where he landed and posted them to social media and posted them to all of the social networks.
- They kept us up-to-date daily with a blog (see below) on where they were, how many bricks of bacon were spent and what they were spent for with their “bacon exchange rate.”
All in all it was a really fun and engaging campaign that got them in front of more eyeballs and more people that might look to buy bacon and other products from them!
